Rapper Lil Durk has been found not guilty of all federal charges in a Los Angeles murder-for-hire case connected to a 2022 shooting near the Beverly Center.
A jury reached the verdict Friday after three days of deliberations, clearing the Grammy-winning rapper, whose legal name is Durk Banks, of charges related to an alleged plot targeting Atlanta rapper Quando Rondo.
Federal prosecutors had accused Banks of helping organize and finance the alleged attack as retaliation for the 2020 death of his close friend and fellow rapper King Von. The 2022 shooting instead resulted in the death of Rondo's cousin, 24-year-old Saviay'a Robinson.
Banks' defense team denied that he was involved in the alleged scheme and argued that his former personal assistant, Kavon Grant, was responsible for arranging the intended attack.
Two other defendants in the case, Deandre Dontrell Wilson and David Brian Lindsey, were convicted of stalking and conspiracy to commit stalking but were acquitted of other charges.
Despite Friday's acquittal, Lil Durk is not being released from federal custody. He is scheduled to face a separate federal trial next month involving racketeering and firearms charges.
Before his legal troubles, Banks won a Grammy in 2024 for “All My Life,” his collaboration with J. Cole.
The verdict was met with celebrations from supporters outside the downtown Los Angeles courthouse.
